About The Department

With the very establishment of Rammohon College on 1961, Mathematics was recognized as an important discipline. From 1961, Professor Saroj Kumar Dutta (since 26.7.1946) and Professor Sadhona Sarkar (since 1948) started the department where they taught mathematics as a general subject of I.A., I.Sc., B.A., B.Sc. and a general subject in pre university. In 2000, Dr.Sushma Pradhan and Dr. Swapan Kar set up a separate Computer centre(UGC sponsored) for Mathematics Department. As a result, in present scenario the department consists of an excellent group of young and vibrant faculty members embedded in an ambiance of regular academic interactions. Our department has 56 seat capacity for honours students.

Vision :

To provide a simulating teaching and learning environment for the undergraduate students of the department of mathematics. To groom a large pool of well-trained students as scientific manpower for quality master’s programs and to make available a large pool of well-educated individuals in the scientific society.

Mission: 

• To transform young mind to competent and motivated professionals with theoretical and practical knowledge of mathematics.
• To produce graduate students with strong foundation to join post-graduate at best universities, IITs and NITs.

• To create an atmosphere conducive to high class teaching and learning with clear thinking and determination who can, in future, become experts in relevant areas of mathematics and computer programming.

Six semester general degree course (over CU syllabus)

Provide course in the commerce stream like Business Mathematics and Statistics.
