Institution integrates crosscutting issues relevant to Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment and Sustainability in transacting the Curriculum

Peace, human ethics, awareness about the social responsibility topics are covered within the curriculum of the subject Education.   Different types of environmental issues such as wildlife management, conservation of biodiversity (flora and fauna), and environmental pollutions are included within the curriculum of the subjects of Zoology and Botany. Fundamental values have to be inculcated to make our students to be responsible citizens. it Covers an all-encompassing domain. To begin with, basic philosophy of Supreme Law of our land, i.e., Indian Constitution has to be taught. Secondly, a clear concept of citizenship must be there. Students must be aware of their effective role in the political process. They must be convinced of the importance of political participation. As a citizen, a clear perception has to be there in regard to Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties. It is necessary to have a basic understanding of global politics and various social movements with special emphasis on Human Rights Movements. Knowledge about physical and human elements of environment including climate change and vulnerability, disaster hazard, and disaster management, human development, social values, tribal groups, gender related development issues and political geography are covered within the curriculum of the subject - geography. The discipline also includes hydrology, forest and wild life management, biodiversity, soil geography and population Geography. The curriculum of Bengali (Honours and General) course covers Human Ethics and Values, Awareness about the social responsibility, Environmental issues, Philosophical Thought.  The Curriculum of Economics covers the topics Issues of Sustainable Development and related Environmental issues, Idea of inequality in the process of development of the society and related human values / gender   inequality, Idea of distribution of National output leading to social equity. The multidisciplinary nature of environmental studies makes it possible to give an idea to students about the natural ecosystems as well as the importance of renewable and non- renewable resources. Students learn the concept of preserving water bodies, conservation of bio-diversity, and the pressing problem of air, water, soil and noise pollution. The subject of Environmental Studies addresses issues of climate danger and the role of the human community in not only becoming aware of them but also to take active measures to combat these perils.
